On 4th of March, 2019 Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) annoucned Young Scientist Programme which is introduced to train students of class 9 about space science, space technology and its applications. This program is introduced under the initiative of “Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan”. ISRO announced this programme through a tweet from their profile:

City based space agency given a statement that “Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has launched the special programme for school children ‘Yuva Vigyani Karyakram’ (Young Scientist programme) to impart basic knowledge on space technology, space science and applications to the young ones to arouse their interest in space activities“.
ISRO Yound Scientist program is aimed at providing education of space technology, space science, and its applications to the young students. This is a completely new subject being introduced for school students which will definitely attract their interest towards space activities along with making them opt. for space technolofy and space science courses in future as a career option. Students will get benefit from it and they will be able to get experience of real application of space technologies and space science. It is basically aimed at attracting youth towards Space science and space technology as a career option.

Duration of ISRO Young Scientist Programme
ISRO has stated that the young scientist programme will be of around two weeks in duration which will be conducted in holidays of students. The schedule of this program will include invited talks, experience sharing, facility and lab visits, exclusive discussion sessions with experts, practical session and feedback session.
ISRO has decided to select 3 students from each state / Union Territory every year to participate in this programme covering CBSE, ICBSE, and State syllabus. Students who have cleared 8th standard and currently studying in 9th standard will be eligible for this programme.
Selection Crietria for ISRO Young Scientist Programme
Criteria for selection of students for this examination is already distributed among the Cheif Secretaries of the respective states/administration. Selection of students will be based on academic performance and extracurricular activities of the student. Students belonging to rural areas will be given special weightage.
Selected students will be accommodated in ISRO guest house and hotels. Expenses like travel of student by 2nd AC train, course material, lodging, and boarding, etc. will be paid by ISRO. Train fare of 2nd AC will also be provided to one guardian or parent for pickup and dropping student.
